How Emmanuel documents work

Emmanuel's Office of the Registrar maintains and safeguards student records, and it's open weekdays in the Eisner Administration Building. For an apostille, ask the registrar how to request a notarized diploma or transcript, and have it sent to us. We file it in person with the Secretary of the Commonwealth, add translation or legalization if needed, and ship it to you.

Emmanuel graduates often head abroad to teach, to serve in service programs or to continue their studies, and many need records quickly. Some institutions will accept a certified copy of your academic record. In those cases, we can come to you, notarize the document and provide an expedited apostille. Please confirm this option is acceptable with the recipient first. Otherwise, we partner with the school to ensure international acceptance.

How your Emmanuel College record gets notarized

Massachusetts will apostille an academic record notarized with any of its four notarial acts: acknowledgment, jurat (affidavit), signature witnessing or copy certification. Which one you need is usually set by whoever receives your documents, so we confirm their requirements before we start.

School official acknowledgment

A Emmanuel College official signs your diploma, transcript or verification letter before the notary, and the notarial certificate names the official, their title and the school. Ministries of education and universities abroad often require this.

School official affidavit

The Emmanuel College Registrar signs a separate sworn statement confirming your graduation and that the attached records match the school's files, and the notary notarizes it. Spain's Ministry of Education, for example, accepts only this or an acknowledgment. See our Spain guide.

Certified copy, only if your recipient accepts it

As the owner of your diploma, you present the original and we notarize a certified copy, then get the apostille in 1–2 business days. Many recipients won't accept a copy certification, so please confirm with yours first.

Prepared right the first time

We coordinate with the Emmanuel College Registrar, prepare the notarial certificate with the details your recipient requires, and file with the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth. For the school-certified routes, you don't need to come to Boston.

Mistakes Emmanuel graduates avoid

  • Sending an electronic transcript. A PDF can't carry a Massachusetts apostille. It needs to be a notarized paper record.
  • Using a bank notary. A notary can't confirm that a university record is genuine on their own. The notarization needs to involve your registrar.
  • Getting an apostille for a non-Hague country. The UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and others need embassy legalization instead.
  • Forgetting the translation. Many countries won't accept English-only records. We add certified translation to the same order.
  • A name that doesn't match your passport. If your name has changed since graduation, tell us early.

Official sources

Each registrar sets its own forms, timelines and fees, and can change them at any time. We link to official pages so you can check the current process yourself.

Where we meet you

Emmanuel is on The Fenway, beside the Longwood Medical Area. We come to you anywhere in Greater Boston, or you can mail us your documents from anywhere in the world.

Planning your timeline

Allow time for the registrar to issue and notarize your record. Once it reaches us, the Massachusetts apostille is typically ready in 1–2 business days, plus shipping. If you also need an FBI check for a teaching or service program, start it right away, because it takes longer than the academic records. We run both at the same time so your packet is ready together.

Documents Emmanuel graduates often need together

Frequently asked questions

Can you help with an Emmanuel degree from years ago?

Yes. Tell us your graduation year.

Can you ship to a school abroad?

Yes, with tracking.

Can my digital or electronic diploma be apostilled?

Usually not as it is. A certified electronic diploma is a secure file that the recipient verifies online, and some recipients accept it directly, so ask them first. For an apostille, Massachusetts needs a notarized paper document: usually a notarized copy of your diploma, a notarized transcript or a notarized degree verification letter. Tell us what your recipient asked for and we’ll confirm the right route.
