Greek-American families and property abroad

Greater Boston has a long-established Greek community, and much of our Greek work comes from families handling property, inheritance and citizenship matters in Greece. That usually means apostilled U.S. birth, marriage and death certificates, a power of attorney signed here so a relative or attorney can act in Greece, and Greek translations of each. We can notarize, apostille and translate in one order so the file is ready to send.

Going the other way: English to Greek

Citizenship and registry matters

Documents for Cyprus

USCIS filings

Greek records translated into English with the certification USCIS requires. See our USCIS translation guide.

Greek names in two alphabets

Greek names can be written in Latin letters in more than one way, and a name may appear in its formal Greek form on one record and an Americanized form on another. Women’s surnames also take a different ending from men’s. We translate every name exactly as it appears and keep spellings consistent with your passport, and we’ll point out differences a Greek or U.S. office is likely to question so you can deal with them up front.

How to order a Greek translation

  • Send clear scans or photos of every page, front and back
  • Tell us who will receive the translation: USCIS, a court, a school or a foreign office
  • Tell us the spelling of names you use on your passport
  • Tell us your deadline
  • We translate the full document and attach a signed certification

Need an apostille or notarization too? We add it to the same order.

Frequently asked questions

Do you translate Greek documents for USCIS?

Yes. Certified English translations with the signed certification USCIS requires.

Will Greece accept a translation done in the U.S.?

It depends on the office. Some accept a certified translation with an apostille, and others want a translation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ translation service or a Greek lawyer. Ask the recipient, and we’ll prepare the apostille either way.

Can you prepare a power of attorney for property in Greece?

We can notarize your power of attorney, get the apostille and arrange a Greek translation. The document itself should come from your attorney in Greece.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on word count and formatting. Upload your document for an exact quote.
