How Bunker Hill documents work
Bunker Hill Community College is one of the largest and most diverse colleges in Massachusetts, and many graduates need their records recognized in another country. To request an apostille, BHCC asks you to contact its Academic Records Office and provide the document you want certified, such as your diploma or transcript. BHCC also authorizes the National Student Clearinghouse to provide enrollment and degree verifications.
We help you through every step: requesting the right record, the apostille from the Secretary of the Commonwealth, certified translation and delivery anywhere in the world. Some institutions will accept a certified copy of your academic record. In those cases, we can come to you, notarize the document and provide an expedited apostille. Please confirm this option is acceptable with the recipient first. Otherwise, we partner with the school to ensure international acceptance.
How your Bunker Hill Community College record gets notarized
Massachusetts will apostille an academic record notarized with any of its four notarial acts: acknowledgment, jurat (affidavit), signature witnessing or copy certification. Which one you need is usually set by whoever receives your documents, so we confirm their requirements before we start.
School official acknowledgment
A Bunker Hill Community College official signs your diploma, transcript or verification letter before the notary, and the notarial certificate names the official, their title and the school. Ministries of education and universities abroad often require this.
School official affidavit
The Bunker Hill Community College Registrar signs a separate sworn statement confirming your graduation and that the attached records match the school's files, and the notary notarizes it. Spain's Ministry of Education, for example, accepts only this or an acknowledgment. See our Spain guide.
Certified copy, only if your recipient accepts it
As the owner of your diploma, you present the original and we notarize a certified copy, then get the apostille in 1–2 business days. Many recipients won't accept a copy certification, so please confirm with yours first.
Prepared right the first time
We coordinate with the Bunker Hill Community College Registrar, prepare the notarial certificate with the details your recipient requires, and file with the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth. For the school-certified routes, you don't need to come to Boston.

Mistakes BHCC graduates avoid
- Sending an electronic transcript. A PDF can't carry a Massachusetts apostille. It needs to be a notarized paper record.
- Using a bank notary. A notary can't confirm that a university record is genuine on their own. The notarization needs to involve your registrar.
- Getting an apostille for a non-Hague country. The UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and others need embassy legalization instead.
- Forgetting the translation. Many countries won't accept English-only records. We add certified translation to the same order.
- A name that doesn't match your passport. If your name has changed since graduation, tell us early.
- Sending a Clearinghouse verification abroad. Many foreign offices want a certified paper record instead.

Frequently asked questions
Can you translate my records into Haitian Creole?
Yes. See Haitian Creole Translation.
Can you apostille a certificate, not a degree?
Yes, once it's properly certified and notarized.
Can my digital or electronic diploma be apostilled?
Usually not as it is. A certified electronic diploma is a secure file that the recipient verifies online, and some recipients accept it directly, so ask them first. For an apostille, Massachusetts needs a notarized paper document: usually a notarized copy of your diploma, a notarized transcript or a notarized degree verification letter. Tell us what your recipient asked for and we’ll confirm the right route.
