Why physicians call us

Clinical schedules leave little room for errands, and medical documents are often time-sensitive and unforgiving of errors. A credentialing packet for a hospital abroad, a license verification for a foreign medical board or an affidavit for a fellowship application may need a notarization, an apostille and sometimes embassy legalization, each completed in the right order.

We have helped physicians from Boston's teaching hospitals obtain apostilled medical license verifications and credential documents for practice abroad, and we routinely meet clinicians at the hospital, between cases or at the end of a shift. One team handles the notarization and the international steps, so nothing falls between offices.

Documents we handle for physicians

Medical license verifications

A license verification letter from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, obtained and expedited for an apostille when a foreign board or employer requires it. See professional license apostille.

Credentialing and privileging documents

Affidavits, attestations and sworn statements requested by hospitals, health systems and foreign employers during credentialing.

Diplomas and training records

Medical school diplomas, residency and fellowship certificates and transcripts, processed through the issuing institution for an apostille. See Harvard Medical School and our academic records apostille guide.

Background checks

FBI background checks and Massachusetts CORI reports apostilled for foreign licensing. See FBI background check apostille.

Employment and contracts

Employment agreements, offer letters, and powers of attorney for an agent handling matters abroad while you relocate.

Practice and personal documents

Practice partnership and sale documents, estate planning documents, and personal powers of attorney, signed at your office or home.

Practicing medicine abroad: the document chain

Most foreign medical boards and employers require proof of your training and licensure that they can trust. For countries that belong to the Hague Apostille Convention, that usually means an apostille from the state that issued the document. For other countries, the document typically needs state authentication, U.S. Department of State authentication and embassy legalization.

For medical practices and departments

Practice administrators and department coordinators call us for onsite signings: several physicians signing credentialing attestations, a partnership agreement, or documents for a group of international fellows. We schedule around clinic hours and complete every signature in one visit.

We also complete in-person Form I-9 verification for new hires as an authorized representative, which helps practices onboarding remote or relocating staff. See I-9 employment verification. Set up a business account for recurring requests.

Frequently asked questions

Can you come to the hospital where I work?

Yes. We regularly meet physicians at Boston hospitals. Let us know the building and a good meeting spot, such as a lobby or office.

How do I get my Massachusetts medical license verified for use abroad?

Foreign boards usually require a license verification from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine with an apostille or legalization. We can obtain and expedite the verification and complete the apostille for you.

Do I have to be in Boston for my documents to be apostilled?

Not always. For records issued by an institution, such as a diploma or a license verification, we work with the issuing office directly. For documents you must sign, we meet you in person.

Which countries need legalization instead of an apostille?

Countries that are not part of the Hague Apostille Convention, such as the United Arab Emirates, generally require authentication and embassy legalization. Tell us the destination country and we will confirm the process.

Can you notarize documents for several physicians at once?

Yes. We can complete signings for an entire department in one visit, with discounted rates for more than 10 notarizations.

Do you translate medical documents?

Yes. We provide certified translation, including the apostille certificate when the receiving country requires it.
