How a hotel visit works
Tell us where you are staying and what you need signed. We confirm every detail before we arrive, so the signing itself takes only a few minutes.
- 1
Request a quote or call
Tell us the hotel, the document, how many people are signing and when you need it. We confirm the details and the meeting spot.
- 2
Get the document ready
Complete and unsigned, with every page present, plus a current photo ID for each signer. We can print documents that were emailed to you.
- 3
We meet you at the hotel
In the lobby, a meeting room or your guest room, at the time you choose. Tell the front desk you are expecting us if we are coming up to your room.
- 4
Signed, notarized and on its way
We confirm each signer’s identity, notarize the document and, if it is going abroad, take care of the apostille and shipping.
Where we meet you
Every hotel is different, and we adapt to yours. For confidential matters, we recommend somewhere private.
The lobby or a lounge
Quick and easy for a single signature. We find a quiet corner where you can read the document and sign comfortably.
A meeting room or business center
Better for longer signings, several signers or confidential documents. Many hotels can reserve a small room or a business center table, so ask the front desk.
Your guest room or suite
Private and convenient, especially for a family signing, a guest who isn’t feeling well or a document you would rather not read in public. Tell the front desk you are expecting us.
Wherever you are staying
Hotels, serviced apartments, extended-stay suites and residences, any time of day or night by appointment.
Need a notary at your hotel?
Same-day and 24-hour visits, with witnesses arranged when needed.
Documents hotel guests sign most often
| Document | Why hotel guests often need it |
|---|---|
| Power of attorney | Visitors from abroad often sign a power of attorney so a relative or attorney at home can act for them. If it will be used outside the U.S., we can arrange the apostille as well. |
| Real estate and closing documents | Sellers and buyers who are traveling sign deeds, seller packages and closing documents from their hotel, then ship the originals back the same day. |
| Affidavits and sworn statements | Signed under oath before a notary with a jurat, often on a deadline set by a court or an attorney. |
| Travel consent for a child | Families traveling with a child sometimes need a notarized consent letter from a parent who isn’t on the trip. |
| Business contracts and corporate documents | Executives in Boston for meetings sign agreements, board resolutions and documents for subsidiaries and bank accounts abroad. |
| Wills, trusts and health care documents | Families gathering in Boston, often around a hospital stay, sign estate planning documents together while everyone is in one place. |
We are notaries, not attorneys. If you are unsure what a document requires, please ask the attorney or company that prepared it.
Notary and apostille for visitors from abroad
Many of our hotel clients are in Boston for a few days from overseas, and their documents are headed back home. A notarization alone is often not enough: most countries also require an apostille from the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth, and countries outside the Hague Convention require authentication and embassy legalization.
Because we handle notarization and apostilles together, a guest can sign at the hotel and leave the rest to us. A Massachusetts apostille usually takes one to two business days, and we can return the finished document to the hotel before you check out or ship it to you anywhere in the world with tracking. Tell us the destination country when you book, and we will confirm the right steps before the visit.
Not sure which you need? Our Document Route Planner shows the process for each country.

Frequently asked questions
Can a notary come to my hotel in Boston?
Yes. We come to hotels across Boston and Greater Boston, including every hotel in Back Bay and Downtown Boston, and meet you in the lobby, a meeting room or your guest room.
Do hotels have a notary on staff?
Some hotel staff happen to hold a notary commission, but most hotels don’t offer notary services to guests, and staff may not be available when you need them. A mobile notary comes to you at a time that suits your schedule.
Can you come late at night or on a weekend?
Yes. We are available 24 hours a day by appointment, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Call 617-203-8755 for urgent requests.
I’m visiting from another country. What ID do I need?
A current, unexpired passport is the simplest choice. Massachusetts requires a current government-issued photo ID with a signature, or another form of identification the law allows.
My document will be used abroad. Can you handle the apostille too?
Yes. After the notarization, we take the document to the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth for the apostille, or start the authentication and embassy legalization process for countries outside the Hague Convention, and we can ship it to you or anywhere in the world.
Can you print my documents?
Yes. Email them to us with your request, and we will bring printed copies to the hotel.
Can you provide witnesses?
Yes. Tell us when you request the visit if your document needs witnesses, and we will arrange them.
How do I book?
